ADDENDUM TO MANUAL ------------------ BIOS updates are loaded onto the board using the AMIFLASH.COM program. To use this program, the ROM shadow and cache must be disabled or the FLASH ROM update utility will not function properly. The board is shipped with the factory defaults set as follows: Board in ISA addressing mode SCSI Enabled SCSI Interrupt = 10 SCSI Address range 200h - 25Fh LAN Enabled LAN Interrupt = 15 LAN Address range 600h - 61Fh BIOS Address Space C8000h - CFFFFh If the LAN settings are changed, then the program FIXNETID.EXE must be run to update the LAN information stored in the configuration ROM on the card. This NETID update program uses a FLASH ROM update utility and requires that the ROM shadow and cache be disabled to function properly. The NETID update program is run by typing FIXNETID You will be prompted to press any key to continue. Hit a key and the configuration ROM will automatically be updated. When the update is finished, you will be prompted to hit a key for REBOOT. Press any key and your system will REBOOT. You are now ready to run the LAN. NOTE: This update utility only needs to be run if the LAN settings for I/O port address, or interrupt level change. All the Flash utility programs are located in the FLASH directory on the floppy disk. DISK FORMAT UTILITY ------------------- Located in the SCSI directory is a file named SDISK.EXE. This file can be used for low-level formatting of SCSI drives. The SCSI DOS drivers must be loaded prior to starting SDISK. SCSI BIOS OPERATION ------------------- The SCSI BIOS is capable of supporting more than one Fast LAN/SCSI VLB card. If using more than one Fast LAN/SCSI VLB card, disable the BIOS on the second card. In ISA mode, this is accomplished by setting the BIOS address jumpers (J10, J11 and J12) all high. In EISA mode, this is accomplished by running the ECU and disabling the BIOS on the second card. By disabling the second BIOS, 32KBytes of adapter ROM space is freed up. The SCSI cards must still have different I/O Port, Interrupt and Sequence number settings. In this configuration in a Novell Server with the LAN enabled on the second card, the LAN driver for the second card must be loaded as follows: : LOAD INTEL596 DRIV=1 GLOB=8 PORT=x INT=x
